Fitness Traineeship 

A fitness traineeship, offers aspiring fitness professionals a valuable opportunity to gain industry-recognised qualifications while working in the field.

Eligible participants can engage in a traineeship with a gym or fitness facility, where  they can access a fully subsidised qualification, either: SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness or SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness.

This arrangement allows trainees to continue working and gaining practical experience in the industry while they study, providing a seamless blend of theoretical learning and hands-on training.

The training is funded by the NSW Government and delivered by Transition Education Australia Pty Ltd, trading as One Training.

Who is this for?

Employees working within a gym or fitness facility looking to upskill and further their qualifications through a fully subsidised Certificate III or IV in Fitness Qualification.

Employer Incentives

Any employer incentives will depend on the financial year that Trainees commence in.

Eligibility

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent
    Resident
  • If NZ passport holder, proof of living in
    Australia for 6 months or more needs
    to be shown
  • Working at the organisation less than
    3 months Full Time or 12 months Part
    Time or casual (working less than 29
    hours per week on average)
  • If casual employee, to be eligible will
    need to convert to permanent fulltime
    or part time for traineeship.

SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness

A Traineeship includes the completion of the Certification III in Fitness and on-the job training. To successfully complete the traineeship you must be deemed competent in both the coursework and the on-the job tasks.

Qualification Requirements

  • Qualification duration – 12 months (or sooner if all course assessments are completed and competency is achieved in a shorter time frame)
  • All course material provided on Learning Management System for Online Learning.
  • Course Mentor Sessions delivered via Zoom available throughout the course.
  • Course Assessments:
    • Quizzes
    • Practical Workplace Assessment
    • Oral Question Assessment 

 

Employment Commitments

  • Employed a minimum of 15 hrs/wk of permanent employment (FT or PT)
  • Allow the student to complete their on the job training requirements based on their workplace activity logbook
  • Provide a safe and supporting working environment, where the student is given the opportunity to develop as a trainer
  • Traineeship Duration depends on hours work, ranges from 18-36 months

SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness

A Traineeship includes the completion of the Certification IV in Fitness and on-the job training. To successfully complete the traineeship you must be deemed competent in both the coursework and the on-the job tasks.

Qualification Requirements

  • Qualification duration – 12 months (or sooner if all course assessments are completed and competency is achieved in a shorter time frame)
  • All course material provided on Learning Management System for Online Learning.
  • Course Mentor Sessions delivered via Zoom available throughout the course.
  • Course Assessments:
    • Quizzes
    • Practical Workplace Assessment
    • Oral Question Assessment 

Employment Commitments

  • Allow the student to complete their on the job training requirements based on their workplace activity logbook

  • Traineeship Duration depends on hours work, ranges from 18-36 months

Next Steps

To secure a fully subsidised Fitness Qualification complete the steps below:

  1. Employers complete trainee eligibility form via the link below
  2. Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) conduct Pre assessment
  3. Traineeship sign up is booked in
  4. Traineeship sign up is completed
  5. Training Plan Proposal (TPP) created, signed by One Training and sent back to ANP
  6. ANP submits contract to Training Services
  7. Trainee Enrolment and Orientation
  8. Course Commencement

Course Delivery Structure

One Training has been an industry leader in online education since 2017, using their Online Classrooms via the Zoom platform since 2017 – well before other education providers.

This has allowed One Training to cater their Zoom delivery to the learner and their needs. 

The One Training Traineeships program will include a mix of online learning via the delivery of course sessions on Zoom, face to face practical assessments and on the job training.
