Entry Requirements

The following local entry requirements apply to ensure applicants are able to fully engage in the course and have the required learning capacity to meet the course requirements. Learners must:

  • hold a minimum of a School Certificate (or equivalent)
  • be able to commit to the course duration and time commitment

These entry requirements will be confirmed through information collected on the enrolment form. Please note – One Training will engage with persons expressing interest in enrolment to discuss their language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Qualification Outcomes

Completing this qualification may provide you the ability to:

Individuals who specialise in Group Exercise Instruction deliver exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages/fitness levels. Sessions may be: freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style. These individuals instruct and demonstrate complete exercise sessions to groups with limited individual interaction.

Individuals who specialise in Gym Instruction provide individually tailored client assessments, provide technique correction as needed, and develop and demonstrate programs. They also provide supervision of a facility or service, keep equipment clean, tidy and well maintained, and handle various customer inquiries.

A study pathway to the Certificate IV and then Diploma of Fitness or Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management.

Students will be required to obtain the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid unit through an External RTO Provider for successful completion of the qualification

Preparation for further study and vocational skills with development of study and research skills, language and literacy skills, communication skills, time management, planning and managing projects, interpersonal skills and the development of techniques.

Most frequent questions and answers

Both the SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness and SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness are 12 month qualifications. However One Training offers a unique delivery over Zoom for full support and 50/50 study options that will be offered over a 14-17 week period. This may be able to assist you to complete faster then the 12 month course duration.

One Training offer 3 different study options to suit your budget and the level of support needed:

  • Full support
  • 50/50
  • Self Study

Depending on the course option selected will determine the cost. The full fees can be found in the schedule of fees.

Classes are an optional, additional support service for the Full support and 50/50 options but are not compulsory. Students are strongly recommended to attend classes to further their knowledge as well as staying consistent and accountable to get the course completed.

A Zoom class is a session run over the internet using your laptop or smartphone. The class will consist of your own personal tutor who will share their screen as you complete the designated assessment workshops together. They will provide support and guidance for every question. Additionally, you will be in the presence of other students studying the course where your tutor will replicate the experience of being in a real classroom with discussions but over Zoom.

There are no prerequisites for the Certificate III in Fitness.

The Certificate IV in Fitness requires a student to hold the SIS30315 or SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness.

Fitness courses are popular due to the growing industry and the high demand for trainers. This is coupled with the ability to build a career which can have the potential to earn a high income with flexible working hours. In addition, the fitness industry is broad where students can use their fitness qualifications in a variety of different ways. These include:

  • Working in gyms
  • Entry point for further education (i.e. Exercise Science, Physiotherapy etc)
  • Teaching group fitness classes
  • Running outdoor, mobile and online fitness business
  • Working with junior, amateur and professional sporting clubs and athletes
  • Using fitness in conjunction with other jobs (i.e. nutrition, yoga, boxing etc)
